Well, it was another loss away from home
After beating Coventry 3-2, we travelled to London to play our fourth away game of the season, against QPR, but it didn’t go as planned. This away form is horrendous, and something needs to be done about it, as we recently suffered a 5-2 defeat to West Bromwich at their ground 11 days ago.
First, the team had three changes since our last game with team captain - Coyle - picking up an injury, Woods on bench and Covil also picking up an injury. This meant that new signing, Cyrus Christie, got to start alongside Andy Cannon and Ryan Longman; however, these three did not impress me. They played very sloppy football and cost us three goals in the first half. Even our top goal scorer, Oscar Estupinan, failed to impress as he did not put enough pressure on QPR’s defence, and he missed a few easy goal scoring opportunities. Benjamin Tetteh was impressive; he was always attacking and trying to break the opponent’s defence. Defender Tobias Figueiredo, was always getting back and preventing more goals from been scored. Overall, i think that the squad wasn’t the strongest and should have started with Ryan Woods and Randell Williams instead of Cyrus Christie and Ryan Longman.
There were times in the second half where we looked as if we may have gotten a few goals back but only one came with Tyler Smith scoring, for the first time this season, in the 85th minute. But it was too late for a comeback.
Hopefully next game we have a stronger squad and a more attacking mind-set to get those three points.
