After that great game on Wednesday night, against Wigan, we headed to Huddersfield to play our Yorkshire rivals.
The squad consisted of: Coyle, Jones, Greaves, Elder (as the back four), Slater, tufan (in the middle), Christie, Estupinan, Pelkas and Longman up front. This line-up only had one change from the last match, as Longman replaced Sinik.
I do not know what happened today, over 1,100 away fans came to support us, and we put on a shocking performance. It is a shame because our fans were excellent and outsung the home fans. Even the build up to the game was buzzing, as we stopped off at the away pub before we headed down to the John Smith’s Stadium.
After all It does not look like Dawson knows what he is doing as that is two losses and one win, with him in charge.
Today’s tactic was different from the last game as they have gone back to passing backwards and they seem to always pass to the right side of the pitch. I despise it when they do this, as they always run into trouble and get the ball snatched off them. However, when we played last Wednesday, we were threatening and whenever we got the ball taken off us we were able to fight for it back. But today we had no energy and seemed to lack confidence.
The defence was weak, it was easy to break ,and Huddersfield attackers were able to make too many runs. Again, we are too open and we are not marking or staying with players. Also, whenever Huddersfield ran at us, we never ran at them to try and get the ball off them, they were able to just run into our box and have a shot. Instead of buying attacking players, clearly our owner needs to start buying more defenders and get rid of our League One players.
In Midfield today, I would have started with Seri instead of Longman as he was useless, he could not run with the ball and his touches were horrendous. He is another player that needed to go at the end of last season. Tufan could have done better today as well, last game he was full of energy, and he was always getting the ball back whenever we lost it; today he seemed to just let the players run past him. Slater did impress me today though. Another problem is that, the Midfield players rarely make through ball passes to Estupinan; if they did more of this then he would be able to have more chances to run at the goal. We did do this a couple of times in this game, but he missed them all.
In attack, Estupinan desperately needs another man up with him because when he gets the ball passed to him, he is always running up on his own and he has no one either side of him to pass to so he just ends up getting the ball took off him. I think Pelkas and Sinik need to be up with him in attack so that they have three strikers, three Midfielders and four defenders. This formation would work perfectly, in my opinion. Huddersfield were good at defending today, and we were forced to shoot outside of the box, which made it frustrating as a fan to watch.
Huddersfield scored twice, one in the twenty-ninth minute and the other in the fifty-first minute. We failed to score; however, we did have two great opportunities as Longman was one-on-one with the keeper, but he put it passed the far post, and Estupinan put the ball over the bar.
Very hard to watch today and I do not think I will be going to an away game for a while, as that is two dreadful away losses I have seen this season.
Our next game is against Birmingham at home and hopefully we can get a win.
Sounds like you know more about football playing than the manager of Hull City Jack! Maybe you should apply for the job 🤔
